Kanazawa’s Hyakumangoku Festival is a 3 day festival at the beginning of June. it features Taiko drums, marching samurai warriors, music on Japanese flutes and shamisen, lion dances, noh plays, yosakoi, tea ceremony, and over 10,000 people dancing in the streets at once!

The Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Festival (金沢百万石まつり, Kanazawa Hyakumangoku Matsuri) is Kanazawa's biggest and most vibrant festival, held from the 6th- 8th of June 2025 It's a spectacular celebration of the city's rich history and cultural heritage, particularly honoring Maeda Toshiie, the first lord of the Kaga Domain, who entered Kanazawa Castle in 1583.
The festival's highlight is the grand parade, the "Hyakumangoku Gyoretsu," which winds its way through the city streets. This colorful procession features hundreds of participants dressed in samurai armor, elegant period costumes, and traditional attire, recreating the lord's triumphant entry into Kanazawa. You'll see impressive displays of traditional arts, music, and dance, including portable shrines (mikoshi), lion dances (shishimai), and traditional drumming.
Beyond the parade, the festival offers a variety of other attractions.
